After months of bitter fight for control, Yahoo today announced an agreement with Icahn, who will get a seat on the Yahoo board. The board will be expanded from 9 to 11 members. Indian websites seem to be making a lot of waves. After mKhoj SMSGupshup just got a Rs 40 Crore Funding. They sure needed that money for the servers and for the free sms messages. The fundingwill go a long way in scaling up the site as they seem to be spending more than half that amount in a year. I doubt if they can ever earn that much money with advertisements alone.

Microsoft is providing open connections to Windows Vista, Office 2007, and many other high-volume products and additional information to enable software developers better interact with these Microsoft products. O the face of it, it looks like a move to keep the regulators happy. However my view is this is an attempt by microsoft to attract developers away from facebook,google etc.

As of June 30, large PC makers will no longer be able to sell Windows XP-based PCs. Retailers will also have only until their current supply is exhausted. This is a move by microsoft to migrate the reluctant users to Vista. The commercial users can go for vista and then get it dowgraded to xp. Retail customers shall have no such luxury. It will be interestig to see if users will migrate to vista or this will lead to higher piracy.
