The Dual SIM Mobile Phones are actually a very India specific phenomenon. Indian companies like Micromax came up with dual SIM phones to take advantage of Indians desire to get the best of both worlds by using different plans for local and STD calls. Most intenational companies like Nokia and Samsung were unwilling to come up with a dual SIM phone but finally they had to give up in front of strong consumer demamnd. While Nokia has got only 2 dual sim mobile phones, it can be seen from this page about samsung dual sim mobile price in India that there are a large number of samsung dual sim mobiles in India.

Samsung DUOS W259 is the only Samsung CDMA GSM dual SIM mobile available in the market. For those of you who do not know, a cdma gsm mobile is one that is capable of carrying a CDMA connection in one slot and a GSM connection in the other. While the number of GSM CDMA mobile phones is less, the demand for one is quite high. The Samsung DUOS W259 Price in India as on Feb 20, 2011 is Rs. 5,743.00.

Here are the other Samsung Dual SIM Mobiles in India with price in Rupees

Samsung Star Duos B7722, available from Rs. 11,053

Samsung Duos Touch W299, available from Rs. 9,199

Samsung Duos B5722, available from Rs. 7,568

Samsung C6112, available from Rs. 5,793

Samsung Duo 169 W169, available from Rs. 4,799

Samsung Chat C3222, available from Rs. 4,304

Samsung C3212, available from Rs. 3,549

Samsung Guru Dual 35 E2152, available from Rs. 2,589

Samsung Guru Dual 26 E1252, available from Rs. 1,699

Samsung Guru Dual 25 E1225, available from Rs. 1,451

Samsung Guru Dual 24 E1172, available from Rs. 1,399

My view that Samsung is the most serious player in the dual sim segment must be visible from the above. They have got a solution for the entire price range and for both CDMA and GSM users. We shall look at dual SIM mobiles offered by other companies in future posts. If you have ever used a smasung dual sim phone then please let me know your views in the comments below.

Samsung has announced a new affordable touch screen mobile phone Samsung S5260 Star II or Samsung Star 2. This is positioned as the successor to the really successful Samsung Star (S5230). This mobile comes with a 3 inch touch screen with WQVGA with 240×400 pixel resolution and a 3 MP camera. On the software front it receives a major upgrade and it now comes with the latest TouchWiz UI v 3.0 which is similar to what has been used with the Bada OS phones and Samsung Galaxy Android phones. It comes with Wi-Fi but lacks 3G support (but that should be fine, considering its target market and price point). Samsung S5260 Star II comes loaded with Social Networking Apps for Facebook and Twitter. It also comes with instant messaging support for Facebook Chat, Gtalk, Yahoo Messenger and AIM.

We can expect Samsung S5260 Star II to be launched in India around March 2011 after its launch in Europe.

Samsung Star 2 Price in India

This article is a result of a Google vs. Microsoft vs. Apple debate with few of my friends. Just about everyone wants to hate Microsoft saying that they always release buggy products that frustrate people rather than giving joy of using them. My argument is that not everything that comes out of Microsoft is hated by people. There are good number of products from Microsoft which people love to use. So here is yet another ‘Top 10 Best Products of Microsoft’ list. This list consists of products which people are passionate about, products which have been loved by users. Note: This list is not is any given order.

1. Xbox and Kinect:

Ever met an unhappy Xbox user? I have only met Xbox fans. People love Xbox. Its an awesome gaming system with superb multimedia graphics. It’s not just loved by players but also by the game developers. It is one of the best platforms to develop on. In fact it’s so good that most of the multiplatform games have been native to Xbox 360 and then ported to the rest of the platforms. It has the best game library of 3 the most popular games consoles in the market today.

2. Windows XP (with SP2):

Perhaps this is the only Windows OS that people love. Every other Windows (including Windows 95, 98, ME (pathetic), Vista) have been disliked by the people. XP is so good that I still use it as my primary operating system. I have used both Vista and Windows 7, and then gone back to XP. It is fast, stable, does not hang, fairly secure (with a decent anti-virus) and just runs all my programs I ever need. That’s what an OS should be.

3. Microsoft Optical Mouse:

How many of us would know that the first commercially successful optical computer mouse was the Microsoft IntelliMouse®, introduced in 2001 using technology developed by Hewlett-Packard. It worked on almost any surface, and represented a welcome improvement over mechanical mice, which would pick up dirt, track capriciously, invite rough handling, and need to be taken apart and cleaned (Source: Wikipedia).

4. Halo:

Halo is not strictly a Microsoft product. It was developed by Bungie Labs and published by Microsoft Game Studios as a launch title for Xbox gaming system. It is still regarded as a one of the best first-person shooter games ever. Halo series games have sold over 34 million copies worldwide, and all Halo merchandise has grossed more than $1.7 billion (Source: Wikipedia). In fact we can say that Halo has been a major driver for Xbox popularity and growth.

5. Verdana Font:

Yes, Verdana Font is also a product of Microsoft. Verdana is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Matthew Carter for Microsoft Corporation. It was especially designed for computer screens and is readable even at small sizes. In fact it is one of the most used fonts on the web. As it is readable in smaller sizes, it is also regarded as a good fit for mobiles as well.

6. Microsoft Office:

Business runs on MS Office period. Excel, PowerPoint and Word are lifeline of Sales, Finance, Marketing, Management and all most all professionals. We are so used to it that we can’t even imagine our systems without it. Even Mac lovers adore it. I am sure that a lot of people will think twice before buying a Mac if MS Office is not available on it. Personally I regard MS Office as the best product from Microsoft ever.

7. Microsoft Project:

Microsoft Project or MSP as it is popularly known by all project management professionals is a niche product but is passionately loved by the professionals using it. It is a project management software, designed to assist project managers in developing plans, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing budgets and analyzing workloads. I have not met a single project management guy, who has not used MSP. It is the most popular project management software ever built.

8. Windows Live Writer:

Windows Live Writer (WLW) is one of the most loved tool by all the bloggers. This post as also been written on WLW. In fact any blogger not using WLW is being unproductive. It makes blogging super fast and super easy on all popular blogging platforms (WordPress, Blogger, Typepad etc). If you write a blog and have not used Live Writer, do it now. You will never ever use anything else again to blog.

9. Exchange Server + Outlook:

Microsoft Exchange is the de facto standard in enterprise email, messaging, calendaring, contacts, tasks and meeting application. Majority of the last corporations run on it. It provides the best seamlessly integrated communication platform. I have used most of the major communication platforms like Microsoft Exchange Server with Outlook, IBM Lotus Notes, Oracle Collabsuite etc and have just loved Outlook. Ever heard a complaint against it ?

10. Bing:

If there is one competition (how so ever small) to Google Search it is Bing. Bing has been liked by almost anyone who has used it. Its search results are still not as good as Google’s but in terms if likeability it scored above it. It has actually made search lively with the awesome photographs in the background. Some of the features of Bing have been even incorporated by Google. It has forced Google to improve. Definitely good for us.

I know there are many other products from Microsoft which are good (and even more which are not). Do let us know your views on this. All I can say is the Microsoft is not as evil as it has been term as.

I have been using internet since last 12 years. I started with a dial up connection of 32kbps (remember the purr purr modem sound!) and now I am using a 2 mbps broadband connection. Even after getting a 2 mbps unlimited download broadband line, I always feel that my internet connection is not able to keep up with my browsing requirements. It always seems slow for me and I am not the only one.

So after few weeks of research and experimentation I have come up with this list of suggestions on how to make internet connection faster. Essentially, these suggestions will help you to use your internet connection much more efficiently, thus getting maximum out of your internet connection. These suggestions will make your internet experience faster.

Do you have a right connection for your requirements?
It is very important to select the right connection for your needs in order to enjoy a faster internet connection. If you are a person who just uses the internet for basic email, web browsing, facebook and occasional youtube, you may not need an unlimited usage connection. In this case it’s better to go with a limited download usage (4 to 5 GB is more than enough) and a high speed connection.

If you are the person who downloads media files a lot it’s better to go with an unlimited / unmetered usage connection. Get the best speed that your budget permits.

Is your Internet Service Provider (ISP) actually delivering you the speed you are paying for ?
This is critical. Get what you are paying for. You need to keep checking for your internet speed from time to time. Many times the ISPs only deliver 50 to 60 percent of the speed promised. Recently I asked one of my friends to check his speed for his 1 Mbps line. He was getting on an average only 600kbps. When he raised the issue with his ISP, his connection speed was fixed. You can check the speed of you internet connection using following websites:
– speedtest.net
– testmyspeed.com
– mcafee.com

Check Auto-Updaters for the softwares installed:
Auto-update of the installed software like Java, Windows, Adobe etc can run in the background while you are browsing and make the internet feel slow for you. Best way is to switch off the auto-update for softwares and windows. We have already written about how to disable adobe updater in one of our earlier posts. You can run these updaters manually as and when when required. Another good way is to schedule these updates to download updates during the time your may not be using your computer.

Use good and light weight Anti-virus and anti-spyware software:
Your PC can be infected by viruses, malware and/or spy wares which will not only slow it down but also affect your internet connection by utilizing it for their own purpose without even your knowledge. They can potentially download or upload huge amounts of data from your system making your connection really slow. Two of the best anti-virus software are:
– Avast
– Kapersky
– You can also use Windows Defender (which comes with Windows Vista and Windows 7)
Avoid using Norton or Symantec Anti-virus as they can really slow your system down because they utilize a lot of system resources (RAM).

Use download Managers for large files:
If you have to download large files, say about 20 MB or more, always use a File Transfer / download manager. There are many free options available like FlashGet / Free Download Manager (FDM) / Internet Download Manager (IDM). If you use rapidshare to download files from the internet, then you can use one of the free rapidshare downloader to download the files while the connection has a comparatively lower level of pressure.

User Better Browsers:
Firefox and Chrome are much better browsers to use compared to Internet Explorer. They process HTML/Java/Javascript, faster and hence render pages much faster that Internet Explorer. Firefox and Chrome also have good memory management and rarely hang. You can use Opera which is also a good option. Over all if I have to recommend one browser, I will go with Google Chrome.

Keep your system(PC) fast and clean:
Many a times it’s not the internet but your system that is slow. To keep your system running fast, do the following maintenance tasks periodically:
- Disk Cleanup
- Clear cache of all your browser
– Disk Defragmentation
- Full system scan from your anti-virus
- Update your windows and other frequent programs (if you set auto-update to off)
– Uninstall all the unnecessary programs that you may have installed

BEWARE! Avoid softwares which claim to increase your internet speed:
There are many softwares available on internet which claim to increase your internet speed by changing TCP / IP, Winsock and other internet settings. Most often than not these will harm your system or change your internet settings in a way that your internet connection will stop working. Avoid these at all costs.

Avoid browsing on VPN to make internet connection faster:
If you have a office VPN, use it only for your official work. Avoid browsing on your office VPN. When you use a VPN, your entire data flows through it, and it can get slow if your office servers are slow or if they have too many concurrent connections. So for non work related browsing, it is a good idea to browse without the VPN connection. BTW, have you seen the free VPN service that we have talked about in the past?

Use OpenDNS (Only for the more technically inclined):
Many times the ISPs do not maintain their DNS servers properly. As a result their DNS servers get overloaded or experience other technical problems. They may take a long time to respond to lookup requests or they may not respond at all. Sometimes when your Internet connection seems to be down, it may be fine but it may simply appear down because your ISP’s DNS isn’t working properly.

To avoid this, you can OpenDNS as your DNS service instead of your ISP’s DNS. I have used OpenDNS and found it really good. My internet connection seems to be more stable and robust. (Note: Using OpenDNS, will not increase you internet speed, but it will reduce to downtimes or ‘server not found’ scenarios). Refer OpenDNS.com/ for more details. OpenDNS basic is free and also provides your with added features like Web Content Filtering, Phishing Protection and Typo Correction.

Please let us know if you are able to make your internet connection by using some of the tips mentioned in this article. If you have any specific question then just leave them as a comment and we shall try to solve it as soon as possible.

This post contains some really good insights about how to write posts that will attract traffic. Do not go by the lack of flow in the post as I am struggling a little right now since I am back to blogging after a long break. Do read the entire post carefully. You will not be disappointed.

The best way to get more success is to look at what has worked for you in the past and then try and do more of them. That is why I went back to the analytics data of Binaryday for the last one year to analyze the most successful posts to identify a trend in them. I define successful posts based on two criteria

Posts that get a lot of traffic and

Posts that attract links

Today’s post is about the former category i.e posts that have attracted the maximum amount of traffic. Before I discuss the secrets of these posts, it will be apt to show you the links to all these posts so that you may analyze them yourself as well.

gmail proxy sites

free rapidshare premium account

core 2 duo vs dual core

how to remove recycler virus

directx 11 free download

how to remove virus from usb

ntldr is missing vista fix

Identifying these posts was relatively easy. But once I had identified these posts, the next question that I had to answer was Did these posts have something in common that made them get more traffic compared to other posts. I found some really interesting ideas from this exercise.

All the posts started with extensive keyword research Unlike most of the posts on Binaryday, these posts were not extempore. I had written about the posts after doing a significant amount of keyword research. While I always do extensive keyword research before writing on my niche blogs, Binaryday has been one place where I share ideas that I strongly believe in and hence tend to ignore the keywords. This is a reminder to me that I have to treat keywords with more respect if I want traffic.

Optimized copy writing: Many people do keyword research. But most of them forget to use the keyword properly while writing the body of the post other than using it in the title tag. Some creative and optimized use of keywords and derivatives of those keywords in the body of the post goes a long way towards getting more traffic to your blog.

Getting some initial external link: I had built at least 3-4 external links for each of these posts. I think some external link building right after publishing a post does wonder to the ranking of the posts.

#1 position in the SERP: I was in for a surprise while looking at the traffic pattern of each of these pages and the exact keywords that have got them the traffic. Many of these keywords ranked for a number of keywords each. However invariably the largest amount of traffic was obtained by 3-4 word key phrases for which they ranked at the top of the SERP. Even shorter key phrases where they ranked at no.2 got less traffic. This is an awesome insight that will help me immensely in future.

The importance of internal linking: I have always known that internal links are important and I always build internal links for posts that I want to rank for. But I had never realized the real importance of internal links till now. However as I was checking the rank of these posts for their target keywords, I found that all of them have fallen several places down from their original position. What has happened? Few months back this blog had been penalized by Google for bad linking and the pagerank had gone down to 0. I did not know which link created the problem since I used to link out to a large number of sites from my posts. To fix the problem, I simply wrote a simple script that changed all links within the body of the posts into nofollow. That solved the problem and Binaryday got back to a pagerank of 3. But I had converted all the inetrnal links into nofollow as well. I am confident that that is what caused all these posts to go down from their original positions.

I will talk about the posts that got the maximum links in the next post. Till then let me know what you think about these posts that have got me the maximum traffic in the last 2 months and what I may do to get them back to their #1 position.

Binaryday had been started to act as a place holder for my website about used mobiles. That project did not really take off as expected even though the site has gone on to become the #1 site for second hand mobiles in India. There are not that many people buying or selling used mobiles in India.

Still I continue to be bullish about the potential role of online websites to make real life commerce a lot more efficient and I am working on some really cool idea for enabling efficient price discovery of books. I will ask you for a feedback as soon as the first phase of the project gets completed. Trust me that is one of the best pieces of codes I have written till date and I am really proud of the project.

My theory that a place holder should always be created as soon as you start working on a project that will take more than a month to be completed. That is why I have started a website about prices in India which will work as a place holder for this cool project of mine. This website is going to have pages like Nokia mobile price list in India and Nokia 5230 price in India among other things.

I have a strong hunch that to be truly useful, I need to convert this site to make the prices dynamic. So that post about nokia mobile prices should be able to get the prices updated whenever the price of a model changes, automatically. What do you think is the best way to accomplish the same?

It is always time-consuming, often frustrating and occasionally successful. I am talking about link building. Before proceeding with the article, I will like to share with you my view about why most bloggers ignore link building. If you write more articles, you can see an increase in traffic immediately. Doing keyword research and writing about hot topics will increase your traffic immediately. Most bloggers ignore link building, because it does not give immediate result.

Getting links is like sharpening your axe before cutting a tree. While your progress is zero while sharpening your axe, your speed increases significantly once you start using it. Similarly while you shall not get an immediate increase in traffic because of backlinks, traffic per post increases if you have some good links. If you write about a hot word, you now start ranking 1st rather than being in the 10th place.

Start with sites that allow you to add links for free. You can find such sites by a simple google seach. Try some of the following searches on google to find these sites. intitle:add+url “keyword phrase” , intitle:submit+site “keyword phrase”, intitle:submit+url “keyword phrase” , intitle:add+site “keyword phrase”, intitle:add+your+site “keyword phrase”, intitle:directory “keyword phrase”, intitle:list “keyword phrase”, intitle:sites “keyword phrase”. This method is useful when you are just starting out. Helps in getting your site indexed and you can rank decently for long-tail keywords.

Add your site to relevant social bookmarking sites. Prefer the ones that provide a do-follow link. You can find some of these social bookmarking site here. Never spam. Add others’ pages to bookmarking sites. The best way to get a positive attention from me is to digg or stumble this article. That holds true for many other bloggers.

Comment on relevant blogs. I know most of the comments are no-followed. Target dofollow blogs, blogs with commentluv plugin and blogs with top commentator plugin.

Identify some influential bloggeres who blog on similar topics as you do. Then link to their posts from your blog and make sure you send atleast 20-30 referral visiors from your blog to their blog. Eventually 5-10 of the bloggers will notice your blog in their referral logs and will either link you back or mention you on their blog.

Search for pages that are no longer available but are linked to from other blogs/ websites. Then find to who is linking to these pages and contact them pointing out the dead links and request them to link to your page which offers the same service.
For finding sites which no longer offer a service or have expired:
? “service no longer available” [keyword]
? “service no longer available” inurl:.co.in
? “no longer available [keyphrase]”
? “site no longer available”
? “site no longer available” [keyphrase]
? “site has been taken down”
? “site has been taken down” [keyphrase]
For finding sites which no longer sell a specific product:
? “no longer offer [keyword]”
? “no longer sell [keyword]”
? “stopped selling [keyword]”
? “stopped offering [keyword]”

Contact the blogger who you think can link to you and ask him/her to provide a link to you. A good example of email to get a link :
