Most viewed videos series on Binaryday

There is a need for creating viral videos for a project I am working on. Hence I am studying successful viral contents in much more detail now a days. I intend to study most viewed videos, most forwarded emails and most shared content including pdf,ppt and blog posts. I find it convenient to capture my thought process on binaryday. That explains the latest series on most viewed videos.

Most viewed video on youtube

I always knew that hitting the top on youtube will bring in a lot of traffic. But exactly how big will that be? Well the most watched video on youtube has more than 13 million pageviews!!!!!!! Even with a measly 5$ eCPM that would have translated into an earning of 65,000$. 65,000$ from a single video is definitely not bad money.

Some interesting observations about the most viewed video on youtube

  • Top 10 most viewed videos on youtube have been watched more than 70 million times
  • There is not a single porn videos in the top 20 most viewed videos
  • Unlike digg and other social news sites, the most viewed video on youtube is not dominated by any particular genre
  • Excepts for coolniks, no other user has more than 1 video in the list of most watched videos on youtube
  • I could spot 4 videos in the top 20 most viewed videos that are clearly India centric. Unlike SEO, Indians seem to be at the front of youtube marketing. Surprisingly I have not heard of any famous indian in youtube marketing. Must be my ignorance. Please let me know if you know of any Indians
