Nadya Suleman Family Website, example of effective marketing of a trivial subject : The Nadia Sulaiman Octuplet drama comes to the internet

Who is Nadya Sulaiman?

Nadya Suleman was an ordinay person who became a mother on the 26th of January. Nothing great except that unlike ordinary people she did not give birth to one or 2 children. But she went on to give birth to 8 children. And then all of a sudden people suddenly interested in Nadya Suleman and Nadya Suleman Octuplet. There were lot of discussion about everything related to this incident.

Finally someone has decided to capitalize on the episode by putting up a website with the pictures of the kids and a donation link. What caught my attention is the amount of discussion that this 1 page website is generating and the large number of links it is getting.

Ironically all of us are advised to slug hours and hours everyday, with the dream of getting that sort of publicity. We are told to create useful content, interact with fellow bloggers and blah blah blah to be successful may be 175 years later.

All my effort looks stupid to me

I may be a bit bitter about the fact that people seem more interested in a trivial subject like someone giving birth to 8 children than the posts I have created after pain staking efforts. However I have no doubt in my mind that our belief of good work leading to online success is flawed. I do not know what is the flaw. But looks like I will be better off creating lots of crap and then marketing it properly. I am not so sure of anything right now. Will like to hear about fellow bloggers’ views about the topic.

P.S: If I came across as unrespectful to Nadya Sulaiman or her babies, I am sorry. That is not the intention.

Assuming the money collected is reaching Nadya, its good that the site is getting lots of attention rather than “our” posts. Bringing up 8 kids at once is no easy task. Woof… scary :|

The site belongs to the mother man. The mom is getting prime time no television in US. All the major TV networks and newspapers are talking about her.

Now if they mention the website along with that, obviously people are going to crash the website.

So there is no denying that marketing is extremely crucial.

You cannot use the same analogy of this lady with the blogging process that you and I have been doing.

If you want to make money by having people click on your contextual ads, you need to attract people who will click on those ads.

Bloggers and technical people who know how the game is played are extremely averse to clicking on ads.

Thats why writing a blog on bloggers is a good public contribution but does nothing to add to the bottom line.

    Welcome to this realization.

This is a great example of everything that is wrong in the world…and in the US!
SHe can pay for cosmetic surgery/accents to her self, but all of us HARD WORKING HONEST people are supportin her kids! I hope that the state takes those kids away!!!!
Propose a new national change to any welfare or assitance to children program. When you get on the program you are covered for the amount of kids you have…then you can have one more that gets aid. After that, NO MORE AID!!!!! We are overpopulated and this idiot is having more kids?
