Is your blog a book, magazine or newspaper?
A good book written in 1990 is still very much useful and in demand. A superhit magazine stays relevant may be for a maximum 1 year. A newspaper looses all relevance in less than a couple of days.
What about your blog? Is it going to be a book, magazine or newspaper? will it remain relevant 1 year down the line even if you stop blogging today?
The way to the holy grail of blogging i.e passive income, lies in the answer to the above question. If you have to keep writing 5 articles a week to maintain your current 500$ income, the only way to go to 1000$ a month is to write 10 articles a week.to earn 10,000$ a month you need to write 100 articles a week!!!
think about it before you publish your next article.

Microsoft is vulnerable…go for the kill google
There are many good enough opensource alternatives to microsoft windows and office available. The alternatives have been available for quite sometime now. People have not migrated out of laziness and because of a reluctance to go out of their comfort zone. However faced with a prospect of job loss, employees will be more than willing to adapt to any alternative that will save some cost. That is why I say that Microsoft is most vulnerable today.
However companies need to be reminded that there are better options than laying off people. Companies need assurance of reliable product support, when they need it.
If google wants to migrate computing to the browser, then this is the best time. Stop fiddling with that browser Google. Go for the kill. Promote the open source office suites and linux with 100% commitment.
4 5-megapixel camera phones compared
I think the camera in a mobile phone has become the most successful deciding factor today. Hence I have put together this comparison of 4 5-megapixel camera phones. The phones being compared are 1.Motorola Motozine z95 2.LG KF750 Secret 3.Nokia N82 and 4.Sony Ericsson C902.
The Motorola Motozine z95 is at the top simply because I had previously reviewed it. You can expect a really good camera phone considering that this was developed jointly by Motorola and Kodak. As I had mentioned in my earlier review of Motozine z95, I have been rather impressed by the amount of local content that they have put in, including access to local newspapers and cricket games. The phone allows you to directly upload pics into online photo galleries. That is rather thoughtful of Motorola.
The LG KF720 is a slider. At rs 18,000 the phone provides you a touchscreen interface along with the 5 megapixel camera. The autofocus feature helps you take better pics with less effort. It also comes with a built in accelerometer. That means you need to simply flip the phone to alternate between portrait and landscape view mode. The KF 720 from LG comes preloaded with several games as well. Surprisngly it comes with a document viewer that lets you view microsoft office documents from within the phone.
The Nokia N82 simply rocks, only if you can ignore the limited internal memory of 100mb. That is a crime in a modern phone design, more so in a 5 megapixel camera phone. However it beats the other phones in the amount of free nokia goodies it carries including N-Gage gaming, music store and nokia maps. It also comes with pre installed GPS for sat-nav. The xenon-flash adds a lot more power to the pictures taken by the N82.
The Sony Ericsson C902 is a 5 megapixel cameraphone from the cyber-shot series. It has got 8 touch-sensitive buttons for direct access to photographic functions. Sony ericsson’s intention to dominate the 5 megapixel camera market becomes even more clearer with the face-recognition technology. Also image stailization feature is a good send for people with a shaky hand.
Let me know your views of these 5 megapixel cameraphones in the comments section.

Google’s quest for monopoly continues : Gmail gets a to-do list
Looks like product manager at google have hit upon a brilliant strategy. Look for a popular application, build one inhouse or buy ones of the existing applications and then integrate it with existing google applications. Does it remind of any company? errr what is the name of that company that Bill built..
Now they have included a to-do list manager inside gmail. Like everything google, it is cooler than all other to-do lists around. You just click on the list and start typing the new task. The task gets saved automatically. You can even convert an email into a task. More details here and here

PPC will always earn more than SEO
I am a regular reader of Seomoz. Fewdays back Rand was wondering why webmasters spend more on PPC than on SEO, considering the traffic potential and conversion numbers. His diagnosis “Because PPC is easierĀ for advertisers and agencies to value, agencies and businesses are spending many multiples of dollars to get that traffic”. I have very high regard for Rand. However Rand has got it wrong this time.
There are 2 basic rules of finance that means PPC will always be more valuable than SEO. The 2 principles are 1) Time value of money and 2) risk and return
Time value of money: In very simple terms time value of money means people prefer now to the future. If I can have an icecream now or 2 days after, I will prefer now. And hence I will pay more for the option that offers results now. PPC is now. Organic SEO is in future. So people will pay more for PPC.
Risk and return: Risk in finance means uncertainty. Higher the risk or uncertainty, higher the return expectation. For a given average return, I will pay less for a risky option than for a less risky option. When I bid on adword, I know for sure that my search term will show up on the results page. The same can never be said about organic search.
There is a third reason why people pay more for PPC. That is called word of mouth. If I am out with a new product, I want to reach to the early adopters as fast as possible and not wait for google to remove its sandbox effect.
BSNL offers 20% discount on broadband connection charges (only for government employees)
BSNL is offering 20% discount on broadband usage charges, only if you are a government employee. I am at a completely loss trying to understand why this love towards govt employees alone. The scheme is applicable to existing as well as new customers and to both serving and retired government employees.
I am starting my search for govt employee in the family
