Pagerank profile and other details of 6000 Indian blogs
Considering the latest pagerank update that is underway, I thought this is the best time to post about my study on pagerank of more than 6000 (6020 to be specific) Indian blogs. All these blogs have been collected from indiblogger.in, a social network for indian bloggers.
Total Blogs studied : 6020
Maximum Pagerank : 6
Minimum Pagerank : 0
| Pagerank | # of blogs | % of total blogs |
|---|---|---|
| PR 0 | 2749 | 46% |
| PR 1 | 731 | 12% |
| PR 2 | 1069 | 18% |
| PR 3 | 941 | 16% |
| PR 4 | 428 | 7% |
| PR 5 | 94 | 2% |
| PR 6 | 8 | 0% |
78% of all these blogs are hosted on subdomains of wordpress and blogger. Blogger wins hands down with 3976 blogs present on blogger vs 741 blogs for wordpress.
A whopping 93% of blogs have a .com TLD. However that is because all the blogs on blogger and wordpress have .com extension. Once I excluded the blogger and wordpress blogs, the number of .com blogs came down to 70%. .in was the second most popular TLD with a 14% contribution.
Here is a list of 8 PR6 blogs as a bonus tip for you visting my blog list.

Binary,
That is a great study. And impressive. But you know what I think of SEO — http://churn-news.blogspot.com/2008/12/anti-seo-manifesto.html
So I may never make it to anything beyond PR0
(Oh! by the way, there are some cool ads on your blog)

@Amitav,
I went through your post. I shall post my views on the topic soon.
@Amitav,
I have done the study on the 6020 blogs present in indiblogger.in directory. That is why labnol.org is not there.
I was doing the study to actually build a digg like service out of the indiblogger blogs. Decided to post my findings because of these surprising findings.
@Ram,
I am mailing it to you. Not able to host it as it is a 2 mb file and i may have issue with server bandwidth.

Thank for the back links advise.
Thanx for sharing the information
That is an impressive study. This post is a bit old, but many of the links have significantly decreased in PR. I think Google has recently started some new criteria that has reduced many site. Also since SEO and PR go together, it is worth noting that some of the sites, like Floating Sun, seem to be nofollow. I know this is a touchy subject but I am a big believer in dofollow and do not believe Google penalizes any site that is dofollow. You just need to be more vigilant about keeping out the human spammers that are attracted to dofollow sites.
@vishesh – Yes your site is great and absolutely should be on a self-hosted WordPress domain. Be sure to get not only a good host, but use a great theme. The theme makes a huge difference. I use the same one on all my sites, customizing it with pho and css to the point that they all look completely different.
