Looks like product manager at google have hit upon a brilliant strategy. Look for a popular application, build one inhouse or buy ones of the existing applications and then integrate it with existing google applications. Now they have included a to-do list manager inside gmail. Like everything google, it is cooler than all other to-do lists around. You just click on the list and start typing the new task. The task gets saved automatically. You can even convert an email into a task. More details here and here
